This bill amends the social services law to direct the social services district to take no action to establish paternity or a child support order when the applicant or recipient has established good cause to refuse to cooperate. The bill also requires applicants and recipients of safety net assistance to cooperate with the state and local social services officials in efforts to locate any absent parent and obtain support payments or property due. The bill takes effect immediately.
