New York A00686 amends the public health law to guarantee ovarian cancer survivors the right to access genetic testing and genomic tumor profiling for inherited germline mutations and acquired somatic mutations. These screenings are not subject to frequency caps or other limitations and must include testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations, Lynch syndrome mutations, rearrangement analysis of all coding exons associated with ovarian cancer, and additional mutations as deemed necessary by the treating health care professional. This act takes effect immediately.
