Increases the tax credit for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.
This bill amends the tax law to increase the credit for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers. For taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2027, the credit will be $1,200 for volunteer firefighters and $200 for volunteer ambulance workers. If both spouses qualify and file a joint return, the credit will be $2,400. The credit is not available to taxpayers who receive a real property tax exemption for their service. The commissioner of taxation and finance is authorized to implement the changes.
