Authorizes bail for certain harassment offenses which are, or are charged as, hate crimes.
New York A00394 amends the criminal procedure law to authorize bail for certain harassment offenses charged as hate crimes. This includes aggravated harassment in the first or second degree, as well as other specified felonies or misdemeanors involving harm to an identifiable person or property. The prosecutor must show reasonable cause to believe the defendant committed the crime and any underlying crime. The bill takes effect immediately.
