Allows lifetime orders of protection for victims of certain felonies or attempts to commit such felonies.

This bill amends the criminal procedure law to allow lifetime orders of protection for victims of certain felonies or attempts to commit such felonies. The duration of such orders is determined by the court, considering the specifics of the conviction. For felony convictions, the order can last for the lifetime of the defendant or victim, whichever is shorter. For class A misdemeanors, the order can last up to three years. The bill also outlines procedures for filing petitions for lifetime orders of protection and the consequences of violating such orders.
