Maryland SB661 amends the admissibility of intercepted communications in criminal trials. It allows the contents of intercepted communications and derived evidence to be admitted if at least one party was outside the state during the communication, the interception was lawful, and the communication involved a crime against an individual or a hate crime. The bill also requires the proponent to notify the adverse party sufficiently in advance to prepare. This Act takes effect October 1, 2026.
