Maryland SB61 creates a Release Preparation Program within the Division of Correction to assist incarcerated individuals with preparing for release. The Division must establish a protocol for registering formerly incarcerated individuals in the program, which will be made available to the public. The Cannabis Regulation and Enforcement Fund will now include supporting the Release Preparation Program. The Division must submit the protocol to the Office of the Attorney General for approval. The Act takes effect October 1, 2026.
