Maryland SB171 amends the criminal law to prohibit the theft of mail under certain circumstances. It prohibits a person from possessing an arrow key with the intent to use it in the commission of mail theft. The bill also provides for concurrent jurisdiction in the District Court and circuit court to try a violation of this Act. A person who violates the mail theft provisions is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment and a fine. The Act takes effect October 1, 2026.
