The bill establishes the Algorithmic Addiction Fund, a special, non-lapsing fund to retain settlement revenues from judgments or settlements related to harm to children from social media and algorithms. The fund will be used for needs assessments, treatment and prevention services, research, and training. The Secretary of Health will develop goals, objectives, and performance indicators for the fund and consult with stakeholders to identify recommended appropriations. The fund will be administered by the Maryland Department of Health.
