Maryland HB439 renames the Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to the Office of the Deaf, Deafblind, and Hard of Hearing and the Maryland Advisory Council on Deaf and Hard of Hearing to the Maryland Advisory Council on Deaf, Deafblind, and Hard of Hearing. The bill also establishes a Deaf Culture Digital Library to coordinate with county library systems and develop programs and materials for deaf patrons. The new Office will work with the State Library Agency to develop a website for information sharing and conduct a needs assessment to improve library services for deaf patrons.
