Milk plants and processors must label Grade A milk products with "Best if used by" for quality dates or "Use by" or "Use by or freeze by" for safety dates. Food items must also display quality or safety dates. The Maryland Department of Health must create an educational program and materials about these dates by July 1, 2027, and post them on its website. The bill also prohibits the use of "Sell by" dates on food items.
