Maryland HB338 expands the jurisdiction of the Maryland Capitol Police to statewide, allowing officers to enforce criminal laws and parking and motor vehicle laws. The bill also prohibits involuntary transfers of officers between sites. Officers must meet legal requirements set forth by the Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission and be designated by the Department as a police officer. The act takes effect July 1, 2026.
