Maryland HB1596 creates the Maryland Growth Initiative within the Maryland Technology Development Corporation. The Initiative aims to support start-up companies by identifying promising firms between the start-up and scaling phases. Priority is given to companies that have received funding from the Maryland Innovation Initiative or other programs administered by the Corporation, as well as minority-owned businesses. The Initiative establishes the Maryland Growth Initiative Fund, a special, nonlapsing fund to provide postseed and Series A funding to qualified businesses.
