Maryland HB1575, known as the Community Trust Act, restricts law enforcement agents and employees of state and local correctional facilities from inquiring about or investigating an individual's citizenship, immigration status, or place of birth. It also prohibits these individuals from detaining or prolonging the detention of someone for investigating their citizenship or immigration status or based on suspicion of a civil immigration violation.
