Maryland HB1564 prohibits the manufacture, sale, or supply of drugs or medical devices for use in carrying out a death sentence.
Maryland HB1564 amends the Health – General Article to prohibit any person doing business in the state from knowingly manufacturing, selling, distributing, dispensing, or supplying a drug or medical device if they know or should reasonably know that the drug or device will be used to carry out a death sentence. This prohibition extends to compounding drugs under similar circumstances. The Act takes effect on October 1, 2026.
