Maryland HB1533, known as the Crown and Care Act, prohibits the manufacture, sale, delivery, holding, or offering for sale of cosmetic products containing specific harmful chemicals. These include Dibutyl phthalate, Diethylhexyl phthalate, Formaldehyde, Paraformaldehyde, Methylene glycol, and others. The Maryland Department of Health can investigate complaints and may inspect premises. Violators are liable for civil damages and attorney's fees. The act takes effect July 1, 2026.
