Georgia HB7 provides a homestead exemption from Laurens County ad valorem taxes, determined annually by the net proceeds of a new Local Homestead Option Sales Tax (LHOST). This exemption applies to all ad valorem taxes imposed by the county for all purposes, but only to portions of real property within the special district. The exemption is mandatory and not in lieu of any other applicable homestead exemptions. The LHOST will be imposed from January 1, 2028, until December 31, 2037.
