Georgia HB42 introduces a homestead exemption from City of Edison ad valorem taxes for residents of the special district in Calhoun County. The exemption amount is based on the assessed value of the homestead property, determined annually using the proceeds of a new 1 percent Local Homestead Option Sales Tax (LHOST). The exemption applies to all taxable years beginning on January 1 of the year subsequent to the approval of this Act in the referendum provided for in Section 4 of this Act and ending on December 31, 2039.
