Complete·5/12/26

Georgia HB1340 amends the homestead exemption for Hall County school district ad valorem taxes for educational purposes.

Georgia HB1340 revises the homestead exemption for Hall County school district ad valorem taxes for educational purposes. It increases the income cap for residents aged 62 to 65 from $25,000 to $40,000 and introduces a new exemption for residents aged 66 and older for the first $400,000 of the assessed value of their homestead. The bill also provides that residents who have already applied for an exemption need not apply for subsequent exemptions as they age into new classifications. The changes will take effect if approved by a majority vote in a referendum scheduled for November 2026.
