This resolution acknowledges suicide as a serious public health issue and supports the designation of September 8, 2026, as "988 Day" to recognize the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The 988 Lifeline, operated by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, offers multilingual support through phone, chat, and TTY services. Since its launch in July 2022, it has handled nearly 26.2 million contacts.
