The Faster Labor Contracts Act aims to expedite the negotiation of initial collective bargaining agreements under the National Labor Relations Act. It mandates that parties begin bargaining within 10 days of a request for collective bargaining and requires the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to facilitate mediation if an agreement isn't reached within 90 days. If mediation fails, the dispute is referred to a three-person arbitration panel. The Act also requires the Comptroller General to report on the average time taken to reach initial contracts.
