The Faster Labor Contracts Act aims to expedite the negotiation of initial collective bargaining agreements between employers and labor organizations. It mandates that parties must meet and begin bargaining within 10 days of a request from a newly recognized or certified labor organization. If an agreement isn't reached within 90 days, either party can request mediation from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. If mediation fails, the dispute goes to a 3-person arbitration panel.
