Prohibits the Securities and Exchange Commission from requiring personally identifiable information under consolidated audit trail reporting.
The Protecting Investors’ Personally Identifiable Information Act prohibits the Securities and Exchange Commission from requiring national securities exchanges, associations, or their members to provide personally identifiable information under consolidated audit trail reporting requirements. The act defines personally identifiable information as data that can identify an individual, such as name, address, or Social Security number. The only exception is if the Commission requests the information for an investigation of a securities law violation or enforcement action.
