I CAN Act expands access to services provided by advanced practice registered nurses under Medicare and Medicaid.
The I CAN Act, or Improving Care and Access to Nurses Act, amends titles XVIII and XIX of the Social Security Act to enhance access to services provided by advanced practice registered nurses, including nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and certified nurse-midwives, under the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The bill removes barriers to practice for these professionals by expanding access to cardiac rehabilitation programs, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and home health services.
