Prevents the closure or consolidation of U.S. Postal Service processing and distribution centers in states.
The Postal Operations Stay Timely and Local Act, also known as the POSTAL Act, restricts the United States Postal Service from closing, consolidating, downgrading, or taking similar actions against processing and distribution centers in states. These centers are defined as facilities that distribute and dispatch mail for a service area, provide mail preparation instructions, and are sectional center facilities, general mail facilities, or dedicated mail processing facilities without a station or branch. The act ensures that each state retains at least one processing and distribution center.
