Requires hospitals receiving Medicare payments for graduate medical education to report on the citizenship status of residents.
The bill amends title XVIII of the Social Security Act to mandate that hospitals receiving payment for direct graduate medical education costs under the Medicare program report information on the citizenship status of residents in approved medical residency training programs. Hospitals must submit this deidentified information to the Secretary of Health and Human Services within 180 days after the end of each fiscal year. The Secretary will then compile a report on this data and submit it to Congress within 270 days after the end of each fiscal year.
