The TEAM USA Act amends the Higher Education Act of 1965 to limit the number of international student athletes on varsity sports teams at institutions of higher education. The bill requires that no more than 20% of the student athletes on a varsity sports team can be international students. This provision aims to preserve opportunities for American student athletes while allowing meaningful participation by international student athletes. The changes will take effect starting with the academic year 2029–2030.
