The GHOST Act, or Guaranteeing Honest Ownership in Secondary Ticketing Act, prohibits resellers from selling, offering for sale, or advertising for sale event tickets unless they have actual possession of the tickets. The Federal Trade Commission will enforce this prohibition and can bring civil actions against violators. State attorneys general and other authorized state officials can also bring civil actions. The Act includes civil penalties for violations, including a minimum penalty of $15,000 per day of violation and additional penalties based on the number of tickets involved.
