The Military Chaplains Modernization Act of 2026 amends title 10, United States Code, to define the purpose, role, duties, and professional qualification requirements for chaplains in the Armed Forces. Chaplains must be fully qualified religious ministry professionals from a religious tradition. They must satisfy the professional qualifications of the chaplain's religious-endorsing organization and the educational requirements of the Department of Defense and the Armed Force in which the chaplain serves or will serve.
