CLOSE THE GAP Act aims to streamline the permitting process for broadband infrastructure on federal land.

The CLOSE THE GAP Act seeks to modernize and expedite the permitting process for broadband infrastructure on federal land. It establishes a Federal Land Management Agency Working Group to coordinate and expedite the review of applications for communications use authorizations. Each federal land management agency must set up an online portal to accept electronic applications within a year. The Act also mandates the collection and retention of cost recovery fees for communications use authorizations and communications sites.
