Prevents hospitals and skilled nursing facilities owned by private equity funds, corporations, or REITs from participating in Medicare.
The Take Back Our Hospitals Act of 2026 amends title XVIII of the Social Security Act to prohibit Medicare payments to hospitals or skilled nursing facilities owned or controlled by private equity funds, corporations, or real estate investment trusts. Covered firms include private equity funds, corporations owned by private equity funds, and REITs. Hospitals or skilled nursing facilities owned by these firms on the enactment date have a three-year grace period before being considered in violation.
