S.4076

Removing Medicare Mental Health Inpatient Limitations Act of 2026

Introduced·3/12/26

Removes the 190-day lifetime limit on inpatient psychiatric hospital services under Medicare.

The Removing Medicare Mental Health Inpatient Limitations Act of 2026 seeks to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to eliminate the 190-day lifetime limit on inpatient psychiatric hospital services under the Medicare Program. This change would allow beneficiaries to receive longer-term inpatient psychiatric care without the current lifetime restriction. The amendments would apply to services provided on or after January 1, 2027.
