Air Traffic Situational Awareness Enhancement Act mandates FAA to install situational awareness tools at contract towers.

The Air Traffic Situational Awareness Enhancement Act requires the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to install certified Airborne Position Reference Tools at air traffic control towers. It mandates the Secretary of Transportation to purchase and install Standard Terminal Automation Replacement Systems at contract towers not equipped with such tools within a year of enactment. The bill also establishes a training program for air traffic controllers and provides reimbursement for independently acquired situational awareness systems installed before the act's effective date.
