The SWAT Act of 2026 amends the Plant Protection Act to create a fund within the Department of Agriculture. This fund will support research and activities aimed at mitigating the negative effects of the spotted wing drosophila, an invasive species causing significant damage to U.S. fruit crops. The Administrator of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will manage the fund, which is authorized to receive $6,500,000 annually for five years.
