Access to Genetic Counselor Services Act of 2026

Introduced·1/8/26

Expands Medicare coverage to include genetic counseling services provided by licensed or certified genetic counselors.

The Access to Genetic Counselor Services Act of 2026 amends title XVIII of the Social Security Act to expand Medicare coverage to include genetic counseling services. It defines "covered genetic counseling services" as those provided by licensed or certified genetic counselors, who can bill for these services under Medicare. The bill also sets the payment for these services at 80 percent of the lesser of the actual charge or 85 percent of the fee schedule amount that would apply if the services were provided by a physician.
