Global Climate Resilience Act of 2025

Introduced·12/16/25

Global Climate Resilience Act of 2025 facilitates debt reduction for developing countries to enhance resilience against climate change.

The Global Climate Resilience Act of 2025 aims to support developing countries in enhancing their resilience to the effects of extreme weather events and slow-onset climate disasters. The act allows the President to reduce or cancel debt owed to the United States by eligible countries, which are defined as low-income, lower-middle-income, or upper-middle-income countries, or small island developing states. The proceeds from debt reduction are to be used for resilience activities, disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and ecosystem restoration.
