S.2807

RESPECT Act of 2025 Restoring the Sanctity of Public Entombments, Cemeteries, and Tributes Act of 2025

Introduced·9/16/25

RESPECT Act of 2025 modifies the authority to reconsider decisions on interring remains or honoring memory in national cemeteries.

The RESPECT Act of 2025 amends title 38, United States Code, to change the authority for reconsidering decisions by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs or the Secretary of the Army regarding the interment of remains or honoring the memory of a person in a national cemetery. The bill specifies that reconsideration authority applies only to decisions made on or after June 18, 1973. It also updates references to "tier III sex offender" to align with the definition in the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
