Headwaters Protection Act of 2025 reauthorizes and improves the Water Source Protection Program.
Headwaters Protection Act of 2025 amends the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003 to reauthorize and improve the Water Source Protection Program. The bill requires that projects on adjacent land must have express support from the land owner. It also prioritizes projects that provide risk management benefits associated with drought, wildfire, post-wildfire conditions, extreme weather, or flooding. The bill facilitates a leadership role for non-Federal partners in carrying out assessments, planning, project design, and project implementation. It also authorizes appropriations for the program.
