Flex Fuel Fairness Act of 2025 requires EPA to adjust CO2 standards for flexible fuel vehicles.
The Flex Fuel Fairness Act of 2025 mandates the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to revise regulations to allow manufacturers to use a lower carbon dioxide (CO2) value for flexible fuel vehicles when determining fleet average CO2 standards. Specifically, the CO2 value for flexible fuel vehicles can be 31 percent lower than for non-flexible fuel vehicles of the same make and model. The EPA may further adjust this percentage based on future versions of the Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Technologies (GREET) model from Argonne National Laboratory.
