The SAWMILL Act provides loan guarantees to support wood-processing facilities near high-priority federal lands for ecological restoration.

The SAWMILL Act, or Supporting American Wood and Mill Infrastructure with Loans for Longevity Act, establishes a Timber Production Expansion Guaranteed Loan Program. This program offers loan guarantees to eligible entities, such as individuals or entities operating sawmills or wood-processing facilities in rural areas, to support the establishment, reopening, retrofitting, expansion, or improvement of their facilities. These facilities must be located within a 250-mile radius of federal lands identified as high or very high priority for ecological restoration involving vegetation removal.
