Expands definition of "intimate partner" to include dating partners and strengthens protections for domestic violence and stalking survivors.
The Strengthening Protections for Domestic Violence and Stalking Survivors Act of 2025 amends the definition of "intimate partner" to include individuals with whom there is or was a dating relationship. It also expands the definition of "misdemeanor crime of domestic violence" to include actions by individuals with a dating relationship to the victim's parent, guardian, or similar role. Additionally, it introduces a new prohibition for misdemeanor crimes of stalking, which involve a course of harassment, intimidation, or surveillance that places a person in reasonable fear of harm.
