United Nations Voting Accountability Act of 2025 prohibits U.S. assistance to countries opposing U.S. positions in the U.N.
The United Nations Voting Accountability Act of 2025 prohibits U.S. assistance to countries opposing U.S. positions in the U.N. or sponsoring resolutions targeting the U.S. or its allies. The Secretary of State may exempt a country if there has been a fundamental change in its leadership and policies, and it will no longer oppose the U.S. in the U.N. Exemptions are temporary until the next required report to Congress. The Act defines "opposed the position of the United States" as countries whose votes align less than 50% of the time with U.S. votes in the U.N.
