Aircraft must install and operate ADS-B In and ADS-B Out equipment in Class B airspace.
Federal SB1706 mandates that all aircraft, including military, operating in Class B airspace must have ADS-B In and ADS-B Out equipment. ADS-B In is onboard avionics technology that receives broadcasts of an aircraft's state vector and other required information. ADS-B Out broadcasts an aircraft's state vector. The equipment must meet performance requirements specified by the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, be installed, activated, and receiving whenever the aircraft is taxiing or in flight. The bill also repeals an exemption for certain Department of Defense aircraft.
