Promotes electrical resilience by allowing federal agencies to provide assistance for hazard mitigation for electric utilities.
The Promoting Opportunities to Widen Electrical Resilience Act of 2025, or POWER Act of 2025, amends the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. It allows electric utilities to conduct cost-effective hazard mitigation activities in conjunction with power restoration efforts. Additionally, it ensures that receiving emergency power restoration assistance does not disqualify an electric utility facility from hazard mitigation assistance. These changes apply to funds appropriated after the act's enactment.
