The BUMP Act prohibits the import, sale, manufacture, transfer, receipt, and possession of machinegun conversion devices and illegally modified.
The BUMP Act, or Banning Unlawful Machinegun Parts Act, amends the federal criminal code to prohibit the import, sale, manufacture, transfer, receipt, and possession of devices designed to increase the rate of fire of firearms and semiautomatic firearms modified to approximate the action or rate of fire of a machinegun. The act defines "semiautomatic firearm" as a firearm that fires a cartridge upon initiating the firing sequence and uses the energy of the firing cartridge to extract the case, chamber the next round, and prepare the firing mechanism to fire again.
