The Housing Vouchers Fairness Act amends the United States Housing Act of 1937 to authorize $2 billion for fiscal year 2025 and subsequent years for rental vouchers in high-growth population areas. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development will provide additional assistance to eligible public housing agencies based on population, housing affordability needs, and historical shortfalls. An eligible public housing agency serves an area with a population over 100,000 and was among the top 25 areas with the highest population growth between 2012 and 2022.
