Mr. Moore of West Virginia (for himself and Mr. Messmer) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform

RESOLUTION

Recognizing June 12, 2026, as the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and honoring the Sacred Heart as the living sign of Christ’s divine love, mercy, humility, and reparation for sin.

  1. (1) recognizes the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus;
  2. (2) honors the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the sign and symbol of Christ’s infinite love, mercy, humility, and redemptive sacrifice;
  3. (3) commends the Bishops of the United States who consecrated our country to the Sacred Heart of Jesus;
  4. (4) recognizes the historic significance of devotion to the Sacred Heart in the life of the Catholic Church in the United States;
  5. (5) affirms the importance of prayer, repentance, reparation, Eucharistic devotion, and the sanctification of priests;
  6. (6) rejects the exaltation of pride, self-idolatry, and rebellion against God as contrary to the Gospel and destructive to the human person;
  7. (7) encourages families, churches, and communities to renew devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus; and
  8. (8) calls upon all people of good will to seek the mercy of Christ, to practice humility, and to conform their hearts to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
