Ms. Meng (for herself, Mr. Suozzi, Mr. Meeks, Mr. Min, Mr. Moylan, Ms. Strickland, Ms. Wilson of Florida, Mr. Cleaver, and Mr. Sherman) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on House Administration

RESOLUTION

Honoring the life, military service, and congressional legacy of the Honorable Charles Bernard Rangel, and his enduring contributions to the alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea.

  1. (1) honors the life, military valor, and 46 years of distinguished congressional service of the Honorable Charles Bernard Rangel;
  2. (2) recognizes Mr. Rangel’s extraordinary bravery during the Battle of Kunu-ri in November 1950, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, as emblematic of the sacrifice made by all members of the United States Armed Forces who answered the call during the Korean war;
  3. (3) commends Mr. Rangel’s tireless and decades-long commitment to strengthening the alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea, including through his authorship of legislation honoring Korean war veterans, his advocacy for Korean Peninsula peace and reunification, and his personal dedication to advancing the bilateral relationship between the 2 nations;
  4. (4) acknowledges with gratitude the bipartisan resolution passed by 70 members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea honoring Mr. Rangel’s life and contributions to the United States-Republic of Korea alliance as a powerful expression of the enduring bond between the 2 peoples; and
  5. (5) reaffirms the commitment of the United States House of Representatives to honoring the legacy of all veterans of the Korean war and to the strength, resilience, and continued flourishing of the United States-Republic of Korea alliance.
