It allows qualified practitioners to prescribe methadone for dispensing through pharmacies, with specific informed consent requirements. The Attorney General can cease, revoke, or deny registrations at a state's request. The Act also mandates annual reporting by the Drug Enforcement Administration on registered practitioners and revocations. The changes take effect 180 days after enactment.
