Limits the ability to assess fees for health care services for prisoners.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons Medical Care Act of 2026 amends title 18, United States Code, to limit the ability to assess a fee for health care services for prisoners. Specifically, it removes the provision allowing fees to be assessed for health care services provided to a prisoner in connection with a health care visit that results from an injury inflicted by another prisoner. The Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons may still collect fees for other health care services, as per the regulations set forth in the Act.
